Can someone please tell me the difference between Mac & Clinique?

Besides pricing, what is the difference between those 2 brands as opposed to maybeline or loreal, or even almay? Is it better coverage, last longer, or is it just the brand %26amp; more expensive? Can someone please tell me the difference between Mac %26amp; Clinique?
Besides pricing, it's about the range of colours, for me. On one hand, MAC has more theatrical makeup, so that's a dazzling range of pigments and finishes - some of which can't be used in the day time. Clinique, on the other hand, has more 'natural' looking colours, and has fewer finishes, e.g. if you browse MAC's website, you can see that lipsticks, for instance, come in at least 3 different kinds of finishes.

Also, as one of the answerers has already mentioned, there's little major difference between most makeup lines' ingredients, it is about branding, packaging and promotion. Estee Lauder owns MAC and Bobbi Brown, but there are price differences in both as they are targeted toward different audiences.

Another thing is brushes - I use brushes a lot for my own makeup and MAC's range is unparalleled. Cheaper than sister company Bobbi Brown's; better value for money compared with Stila, Clinique's brushes can't even compare.

I can't say anything about Clinique's hypoallergenic, dermatologist-tested claims, but look around and source for this complete makeup guide book, it's called ';Don't go to the cosmetics counter without me'; by Laura Begoun. Disregard the fact that she also has her own makeup line, and read what she says about hundreds of lines that she has reviewed. It's too hefty to buy, but browse through it at your bookshop.

My advice is to pick and choose what you'd like from each range. There isn't much sense in being loyal to any particular line. MAC remains my personal favourite for lipsticks, particularly the semi-creamy (the Amplified lipsticks), because they last long, have truer colour, don't dry out my lips, and don't smell weird. I like how they complement my skin tone and colour and find that Clinique lipsticks are too dry - but their makeup combo palettes are amazingly well put together while MAC's aren't.

The reason I choose MAC over Maybelline or L'Oreal would be for specific products - I use a cheaper Australian brand for lipbalm purely because it's all natural and effective. The other three brands have similar products which are grossly overpriced, scented, and/or don't feel good on my lips.

Ask for a tester for the products you want to try and test-run them for a couple of days. I've found that to be the best way to see if you should spend your hard-earned cash on any of them :)Can someone please tell me the difference between Mac %26amp; Clinique?
OH do I have a book for you!!!!

Go to your local public library and borrow the book called ';Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me';.

It's amazing!!! It reveals all the truths about the ingrediants added to hundreds of make up products! Including MAC, Clinique, Almay, Cover Girl, Maybelline etc....It even gives a list of those awful companies who still use animals to test their products (assholes...lets use them for testing!!)

The more expensive products have less ';fillers'; like alcohol and other skin irritants. They contain more natural ingrediants like vitamins making them more expensive!
The diference is that my girlfriend uses Mac and not Clinique. She tells me they use better ';ingedients'; therefore the quality is better
I don't know about the particular brands that you mention but on Tyra the other day a makeup artist used drugstore brands on one side of a woman's face and department store brands on the other side of the face and she couldn't tell the difference. In fact she picked the drugstore side as being the department store makeup side. The makeup artist, who was Tyra's personal makeup artist, said the ingredients are the same and the only difference is because of marketing and packaging.

Estee Lauder company owns most of the makeup company's like Loreal and Lancome and probably Clinique and Mac too so I would say that it's all the same!
Every product is different just like every face/skin type is different. What one may say about Mac or Clinque someone else may something totally different...

If you are looking to figure out which is better for you, the best thing is to go get a make-over done and see which one feels the best. May just the foundation feels good with Clinque but with Mac you love the powder you just never know unless you try.
